neal-brennan-bob-nocek-presents

Three-time Emmy nominated Writer, director, producer, and standup comedian Neal Brennan has become a force in the comedy world. An across-the-board talent, Neal has found success in almost every creative vein in the comedy community. He has collaborated with the top writers and talent in the business and worked on several popular shows in various capacities. If there is a comedy that audiences are responding to, Neal is often somewhere to be found.

Neal is currently a writer, Creative Consultant, and on-air correspondent on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. He served as Executive Producer on Chris Rock’s 2018 standup special Chris Rock: Tamborine and as Director on fellow Daily Show Correspondent Michelle Wolf’s 2017 HBO special Michelle Wolf: Nice Lady. He also co-wrote the 2017 feature film The Female Brain alongside comic Whitney Cummings.

Neal’s critically acclaimed stand-up special 3 Mics premiered on Netflix in 2017, with Paste Magazine offering “It will floor you in the best way possible.” In a break from traditional standup comedy, 3 Mics sees Brennan alternating between three separate microphones; one for traditional stand-up, one for one-liners, and one for short confessional monologues covering everything from managing his depression to his difficult relationship with his father. The show enjoyed a successful off-Broadway run in NYC with superstar musician John Legend serving as Producer.

dweezil-zappa-bob-nocek-presents

Dweezil Zappa's "Choice Cuts" tour has been curated by Dweezil for an all-new show filled with some of rock legend Frank Zappa's boldest compositions. Dweezil calls them "a collection of the meatiest tracks," which with he plans to satiate the appetite of Zappa fans old and new.

Dweezil Zappa grew up listening to the music his famous father was working on or listening to, but soon found himself transfixed by the influences of the Beatles, Queen, The Who and Jimi Hendrix. And like many aspiring guitarists of his generation, Dweezil's ear was caught in a stranglehold by the trailblazing guitar styles of Edward Van Halen and Randy Rhoads.

Dweezil's most recent album release (2018) is "Live In The Moment II," a guitar solo compilation record in the style of his father's "Shut Up And Play Yer Guitar" discs. Live solos interspersed with studio tracks and interstitial palette cleansers.

VIP Soundcheck Party purchase options are available for these performances. Purchasers will be invited to an exclusive soundcheck performance prior to the show and will receive a commemorative poster from the concert.

Her meteoric rise on Instagram, parodying celebrity photographs, has resulted in her taking meetings with top moguls of the entertainment industry and awkwardly becoming friends with the very people she is parodying.

In this exciting live show experience Celeste explains the story behind some of her most famous images, her new relationship with famous people, and the stalkers, fans and comments that get under her skin.

Hailed as The Funniest Woman on Instagram, Celeste also hits us with a healthy dose of humour, as she explains some of the pit falls of being married to someone so much hotter than her (shoutout to #hothusband) and what it’s like to be an Anti Influencer.

JW__XMAS_2018 (c) John Waters 2017.jpg

Like a damaged St. Nick for the Christmas corrupted, John Waters – legendary filmmaker (“Female Trouble”, “Hairspray”, “Serial Mom”), raconteur and author of bestselling books, Carsick, Role Models and Make Trouble – hitchhikes into town with a bag full of sticks and stones for the devoted and the damned, spreading Yuletide profanity and perverted piety with his critically acclaimed one-man show, “A John Waters Christmas”.  This rapid-fire “trigger warning” for holiday traditionalists asks the questions, “Is Prancer the only gay reindeer?”, “Is it wrong to steal purses from cars in graveyard parking lots on Christmas Eve while mourners leave flowers?”, “Has Santa ever been nude?”, and, most importantly, “Should you disrupt living crèche celebrations this year in the name of political action?”  Miracles really do happen at Yuletide, even if they’re false, and Waters prays for a Gaspar Noé Christmas film, and a new sex club that encourages gay men and lesbians to have sex with each other for the very first time.  Delving into his love for the annual December warning list of “Unsafe Toys to Give Your Child” and his hatred for email Christmas cards, The Easter Bunny, and any kind of holiday “food issues”, the Pope of Trash will give you a Cool Yule like no other.  You better watch out, you better cry!  John Waters, the People’s Pervert, is coming to town.

Billy Cox, bassist for both the Jimi Hendrix Experience and Band of Gypsys, anchors a rhythm section that provides the foundation for exciting renditions of numerous signature Hendrix favorites such as “Purple Haze” and “Little Wing.”

Jimi Hendrix was a pioneer in both rock and blues; he expanded the possibilities of what could be achieved on his instrument and in popular music. Likewise, the Experience Hendrix Tour continues to expand as Jimi’s legacy grows. In 2004, the first tour came to fruition with a three-date string of shows on the west coast, starting in Hendrix’s hometown of Seattle. By 2008, the Experience Hendrix Tour had become a full-fledged, coast-to-coast expedition and continuing to date without showing any signs of slowing down. Audiences are presented the opportunity to see great artists paying homage to Hendrix while collaborating with each other in ways they’d never do in their own live shows.

Mollie Parden will open the show.

A performing songwriter by trade, Matthew Perryman Jones is actually a seeker, at heart. With each entry in his discography, his musical and moral compass points toward an artistic horizon he has yet to explore. Sometimes, he turns his gaze to examine his own inner world. Other times, he looks to the inspirations found in the letters Vincent Van Gogh penned to his brother Theo, in the idea of duende as proffered by Federico García Lorca, and in the poetic verses of Sufi poets Hafiz and Rumi.

Of his most recent release, American Songwriter wrote that, “MPJ’s songwriting acumen could easily be used as a musical template to demonstrate how less can be so much more. [He]sounds cinematic and slowly worms its way inside your brain, feasts upon your emotions, and ultimately burrows down into your soul.” It could be said that Matthew makes soul music — not based on how it sounds, but on where it originates and where it resides.

Alice Cooper pioneered a grandly theatrical brand of hard rock that was designed to shock. Drawing equally from horror movies, vaudeville, and garage rock, the group created a stage show that featured electric chairs, guillotines, fake blood and boa constrictors. He continues to tour regularly, performing shows worldwide with the dark and horror-themed theatrics that he’s best known for.  With a schedule that includes six months each year on the road, Alice Cooper brings his own brand of rock psycho-drama to fans both old and new, enjoying it as much as the audience does. Known as the architect of shock-rock, Cooper (in both the original Alice Cooper band and as a solo artist) has rattled the cages and undermined the authority of generations of guardians of the status quo, continuing to surprise fans and exude danger at every turn, like a great horror movie.

Willy Porter has been turning first time listeners into die hard fans for more than two decades. Willy blurs the line between indie-folk and rock with his searing signature finger-picking guitar sound, absorbing lyrics, and playful, high-energy live performance style. He has shared world stages with music icons Jeff Beck, Tori Amos, and Paul Simon, carving out a successful solo career as an artist who makes music that resonates long after the last guitar chord fades.

From the release of his breakthrough album, 1994’s Dog Eared Dream, to the launch of his own record label, Weasel Records, in 2005, Willy is an artist dedicated to delivering high-test, original musical experiences. His 2015 album, Human Kindness, featured the songs “Train” and “Chippewa Boots,” performed live on NPR’s A Prairie Home Companion by Willy and his singing/songwriting partner, Carmen Nickerson. The pair teamed up again in 2016 to make Bonfire to Ash, a record of co-writes produced by Grammy award-winner Ben Wisch (Marc Cohn, Jonatha Brooke).

Equally accomplished as a guitarist, singer, and songwriter, his songs weave a universal perspective about the questions, struggles, and triumphs of human existence. His live shows are guitar-driven events-- equal parts grit, soul, and muscle-- that are electrifying, dynamic, and wholly original in the way that Willy’s voice blends and fuses with his virtuoso fret work.

Whether in the studio or on stage, Willy Porter gifts listeners with an unforgettable ride, embodying the very best of what live music has to offer.

The Jacob Jolliff Band is the next generation of bluegrass supergroups, led by one of the country's premier contemporary bluegrass mandolinists.

Before joining Yonder Mountain String Band, Jacob Jolliff founded beloved New England roots band Joy Kills Sorrow, while attending Berklee School of Music on a full scholarship. The band logged three records, hundreds of shows, and thousands of miles of worldwide touring. In 2012, Jolliff had the distinctive honor of being named the National Mandolin Championship winner. A fixture of the national bluegrass community, he has collaborated and shared the stage with Darol Anger, Sam Bush, Ronnie McCoury, Jerry Douglas, Chris Thile, and David Grisman to name a few. When Joy Kills Sorrow disbanded in 2014, Jolliff got the call to join progressive bluegrass giant Yonder Mountain String Band.

The ensemble features some of the most virtuosic and innovative young pickers in the country, including Jolliff's long-time partner-in-crime, Alex Hargreaves, on fiddle. Considered one of best improvising violinists in the world, Hargreaves is the winner of The Grand Masters Fiddle Championship and The National Oldtime Fiddlers' Contest. He is also a member of the Turtle Island String Quartet. On guitar is bluegrass upstart Stash Wyslouch, founder of The Deadly Gentleman and current member of The Stash! Band and the Bruce Molsky led Molsky's Mountain Drifters. Bassist Jeff Picker was a staple of the Portland jazz scene before relocating to NYC. He now currently tours with bluegrass phenom Sarah Jarosz. (band lineup may be subject to change pending availability)

Jacob Jolliff continues to tour extensively with Yonder Mountain String Band year round, assembling his namesake band when he and his members' relentless touring schedules permit, for rare, not to to be missed performances.

Art Garfunkel

TICKETS ON SALE
Friday, February 16 at 10AM

Blessed with what the New York Times described as a “beautiful countertenor,” singer Art Garfunkel has made an indelible mark on the music world as both a solo artist and half of the unrivaled Simon & Garfunkel.  He has also enjoyed a successful film career, published a book of poetry and released 12 solo albums, the most recent being SOME ENCHANTED EVENING in 2007.

Since then, he has been busy as a husband and father to his two sons, 26 year-old James and 11-year-old Beau Daniel.  He is also an avid walker who has walked across Japan, the US (celebrated in the 1997 concert DVD ACROSS AMERICA) and now Europe.

Garfunkel was originally revered for his Grammy-winning, chart-topping songs and albums with partner and fellow NYC native Paul Simon.  Their greatest hits collection, which includes “Mrs. Robinson,” “Scarborough Fair,” “The Sound Of Silence,” “The Boxer” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” among others, is one of the biggest selling album ever.

After Simon & Garfunkel parted ways in 1970, GARFUNKEL landed several major film roles, including “Carnal Knowledge” (opposite Jack Nicholson), “Catch 22” and Nicholas Roeg’s “Bad Timing/A Sensual Obsession.”  His solo debut ANGEL CLARE spawned the top 10 hit “All I Know.”  His other solo albums include BREAKAWAY (‘75; features the hit “I Only Have Eyes For You”), WATERMARK (‘78; featuring “[What A] Wonderful World” with James Taylor and Paul Simon), FATE FOR BREAKFAST (‘79), SCISSORS CUT (‘81), THE ANIMALS’ CHRISTMAS (‘86), LEFTY (‘88), GARFUNKEL (greatest hits, ‘88), UP TILL NOW (‘93), ACROSS AMERICA (‘97), SONGS FROM A PARENT TO A CHILD (‘97), EVERYTHING WAITS TO BE NOTICED (’03), SOME ENCHANTED EVENING (’07) and THE SINGER (2012).

The late ‘80s brought two new challenges for GARFUNKEL: he published Still Water, a collection of poetry in ‘89, and began an amazing trek across America--on foot.  But the ‘80s and ‘90s found GARFUNKEL doing what he does best: singing for an audience.  “Taking on the fear and vulnerability of a live show keeps you vital,” says GARFUNKEL, who relishes the opportunity to perform new and classic material for fans around the world.  “I’m a singer trying to get away with a lucky job.  I try to soothe, to lift...That’s my life.”

GARFUNKEL earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at Columbia College, majoring in Art History; later he earned his Masters degree in Architecture at Columbia University.  He lives in New York City with his wife Kim.  GARFUNKEL is an avid reader and has chronicled every book he’s read since June 1968 on his website–-1,210 in all.  Garfunkel's new book, "What Is It All But Luminous (Notes From An Underground Man)" will be released September 26 by Alfred A. Knopf.

Rodriguez, the singer-songwriter whose career renaissance was sparked by the Oscar-winning documentary Searching for Sugar Man, is a self-taught guitarist who began performing in bars and clubs around a decaying Detroit in the 1960s. He recorded two studio albums, Cold Fact and Coming From Reality, then pursued work in politics, construction and factory jobs to support his family, unaware that his music would, over the decades, achieve legendary folk-rock superstar status in South Africa. In the late 1990s, South African fans sought him out, leading to the documentary and and a revitalized music career in which he tours internationally.

Doyle Bramhall II

WITH SPECIAL GUEST BRANDY ZDAN

Doyle Bramhall II is one of the most distinctive vocalists, guitarists, composers and producers in contemporary music. Indeed, none other than Eric Clapton, with whom Bramhall has worked for more than a decade, lauds him as one of the most gifted guitarists he has ever encountered. As the son of the late Texas music legend Doyle Bramhall, he was raised in a home filled with the blues and rock ’n’ roll styles indigenous to Texas.

But the younger Bramhall—a rare and distinctive guitarist who plays left-handed, but with his instrument strung for a right-hander and flipped backwards--had his own connections with the Vaughan brothers: Early in his career he was befriended and supported by Stevie. When he was 18, Bramhall was recruited by Jimmie to play with the Fabulous Thunderbirds. After Stevie’s tragic death in 1990, Bramhall II and Charlie Sexton formed the Arc Angels with drummer Chris Layton and bassist Tommy Shannon of Stevie Ray's fabled rhythm section.

bzhighresquinn2.jpg

Although Brandy Zdan calls her new, self-titled album her full-length “debut,” there’s no mistaking this seasoned singer-songwriter for any kind of rookie. For the better part of the last decade, the native Canadian — now living in Nashville, TN— has garnered acclaim as half of the gothic folk/roots duo Twilight Hotel, with two albums, 2008’s Highway Prayer and 2011’s When the Wolves Go Blind, nominated for prestigious Juno Awards (Canada’s Grammy), as a formidable multi-instrumentalist (touring and recording with the Americana all-girl band the Trishas), and even as a solo artist (with LoneStarMusic hailing her 2013 Lone Hunter EP as “a one-woman tour de force.”) But according to the artist herself, all of that was merely a prelude to the aptly-titled Brandy Zdan, the most focused expression of her musical identity to date.

Since its debut in 1996, Satriai’s G3 tour has featured the world’s greatest guitarists (everyone from Steve Vai and Eric Johnson to Steve Lukather and Robert Fripp) and has become a consistent concert hall sell-out attraction in the U.S., South America, Europe, Australia and Japan. “I could say that I’m surprised at the durability of G3 and how much it’s grown, but in a way I’m not,” Satriani says with a laugh. “I think part of its charm and its mojo is in the chemistry of having three top guitarists share what they do on stage. It’s fun, it’s unpredictable, it’s wild – it’s everything you could want in a show.”

Graham Russell & Russell Hitchcock met on May 12, 1975, the first day of rehearsals for "Jesus Christ Superstar" in Sydney, Australia; they became instant friends with their common love for The Beatles and, of course, singing.

After the shows' performances at 10:30, they would play pizza parlors, coffee bars and night clubs with just one guitar and two voices. They quickly gained a reputation for great harmonies and for original songs that Graham was constantly writing. They made a demo on a cassette of two songs, "Love and Other Bruises" and "If You Knew Me" and took it to every record company in Sydney. Everyone turned it down but one — CBS Records — who admired their unique style.

They made a single in one afternoon and it shot to number one on the national charts. Air Supply was born! That same year, they opened for Rod Stewart across Australia and then throughout the U.S. and Canada playing all of the famous huge venues before Rod would take the stage. They found new fans, but did not break the U.S. market.

Back in Australia they had to start again and made a record called Life Support. On this record were some treasures of songs, including "Lost in Love" which went Top 10 in Australia and somehow found its way to music industry executive Clive Davis in New York.

Clive immediately signed Air Supply to Arista Records and in 1980, "Lost in Love" became the fastest selling single in the world, leaping to the top of all of the charts. Now Air Supply was on their way. The second single was "All Out of Love," and that went up the charts even quicker.

Seven top-five singles later, Air Supply at that time had equaled The Beatles' run of consecutive top five singles. The albums Lost in Love, The One That You Love, Now & Forever, and The Greatest Hits sold in excess of 20 million copies. "Lost in Love" was named Song of the Year in 1980, and, with the other singles, sold more than 10 million copies.

The trademark sound of Russell Hitchcock's soaring tenor voice and Graham Russell's simple yet majestic songs created a unique sound that would forever be known as Air Supply.

Puddles Pity Party

Friday, August 11 at 10AM

A 7-foot clown walks into a bar. He motions for a soda water and sits there staring at his drink. The year was 1998 and Puddles had wandered into the Star Community Bar in Atlanta, GA where bartender Big Mike Geier first laid eyes on the sad, silent clown.

“There was a heaviness about him,” says Geier. “I could tell he wasn’t in the mood to chat, so I pretty much left him alone except to pass him the mustard when he pulled an onion and a heel of bread out of his pocket. A couple weeks later, he came by the bar and gave me a flyer to a show he was doing at a flea market. The sound system was crap, but his voice was something else. I’ve been in my share of bands and wasn’t expecting much from a clown singing karaoke from a boombox. But I’ll be damned if his singing didn’t get me all choked up.”

The two soon became close friends, with Big Mike acting somewhat as a confidant as the pair travel all over with Puddles Pity Party, Mike speaking on behalf of Puddles since the clown chooses to stay silent.

Originally from River City before kicking around Atlanta, the sulking serenader gained momentum after hitting the road as guest performer on the 2010 Aqua Teen Hunger Force Live tour and 2013 Eels tour and making special appearances at Seattle’s Teatro ZinZanni and NYC’s Sleep No More.

It was Halloween 2013 when Puddles then teamed up with Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox to record an epic version of Lordes’ hit song “Royals,” which instantly went viral on YouTube, having received over 16 million views so far. The “sad clown with the golden voice” captivated audiences and media from around the world, building a fan base of more than 167,000 on Facebook.

Puddles has since performed all over the planet garnering rave reviews at festivals like Edinburgh Fringe, Adelaide Fringe, Perth Fringe, Melbourne International Comedy Fest and Belgium’s Gent Fest. He was a feature performer in La Soiree’s 2014 Southbank show in London, which won the Olivier Award. In 2015, Jack Black selected Puddles to perform multiple sets at Festival Supreme, and Puddles was handpicked by Neil Patrick Harris to perform Just For Laugh’s “Circus Awesomeus” gala filmed for HBO Canada.

Today, the softhearted crooner continues to wander the world with melancholic pop anthems and free hugs for all the party people. Though his suitcase is packed with plenty of Kleenex, the show is not entirely about sadness and longing. Puddles’ set is peppered with a brilliant sense of the absurd, mixing lots of humor with the awkward, tender moments.

“Puddles gives an emotive performance that resonates with all kinds of folks,” says Geier. “The crowd really responds to him. There’s something about a giant sad singing clown that comforts us, let’s us know it’s ok to feel. And the fellowship he creates brings joy. It’s a sad and beautiful world, and we’re all in it together, even when we’re totally alone.”

It’s been a full quarter-century since a young saxophonist and composer released his debut recording as a leader, Trust. Now, on September 1, 2017, Boney James will release his 16th album, this one titled Honestly. If you sense a direct line between those titles, you’ve already come a long way toward understanding what motivates the four-time GRAMMY nominee and multi-platinum-selling musician.

“I’m fighting the good fight to be my own artist and not be pigeonholed,” says the genre-blurring James. “With a record’s title I always try to find something that will communicate the feeling I get when I listen to it. The feeling I get with this music is a sense of sincerity and intimacy. The word ‘honestly’ really reflects how I aspire to live my life and create my music. One of the great things about music is how powerful it is. It can totally transport people. These are interesting times we are living in and the one thing I can do with the skills that I have is to make music that evokes a feeling and takes people somewhere… to do what I can to try and make the world a more pleasant place.”

"A phenomenal talent whose feel for classic soul music is bone deep…This woman is on fire." - The New York Times

One voice is all it takes. The right vocalist can make you fall in love at first listen, elicit tears, or bring you back to a different era altogether. A microphone and a stage remain the only necessities. That holds true for New York-based soul singer and songwriter Morgan James.

On her sophomore album, Reckless Abandon, James casts an unbreakable spell with a powerhouse voice and a soulful poise. Freedom and expansion are the threads that bind the collection of 12 original, co-penned tracks with writers from LA to NYC to Nashville and in between. The result is a fusion of pop, funk, and R&B with a classic approach.

James delivers an impassioned performance that showcases her virtuosic vocal range that spans from sultry to spontaneous and controlled, effortlessly. From The Juilliard School to Broadway, by way of a beaten soul-searching path, Morgan made leading appearances in Berry Gordy’s Motown: The Musical, Godspell, and more. Regardless of genre, James delivers passion and technical prowess that is rivaled by few.
