Rodriguez, the singer-songwriter of "Searching for Sugar Man" fame, plays Duke Energy Center in Raleigh on March 1
DUKE ENERGY CENTER | Raleigh, NC | March 1 | TICKETS & INFO
Rodriguez, the singer-songwriter whose career renaissance was sparked by the Oscar-winning documentary Searching for Sugar Man, will perform at Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh on Thursday, March 1. Tickets are on sale now at bnpresents.com, Ticketmaster.com, and the Duke Energy Center box office.
Rodriguez is a self-taught guitarist who began performing in bars and clubs around a decaying Detroit in the 1960s. He recorded two studio albums, Cold Fact and Coming From Reality, then pursued work in politics, construction and factory jobs to support his family.
Rodriguez was unaware that he had reached legendary folk-rock super stardom in South Africa, where mistaken rumors circulated that he was deceased. In the late 1990s, South African fans sought him out, and their story is told in the 2012 Oscar-winning documentary Searching for Sugar Man, which has given Rodriguez a new measure of fame in the United States. The film has been aired multiple times on PBS and public television worldwide, and is available on DVD and streaming TV.
